PACIFIC BEACH, Calif. (BP)--Today began our second leg of the trip. We got up early, loaded up the bus, and traveled ten and a half-hours from San Diego to Yosemite National Park. It was sort of a rough morning because my roommates didn’t wake me up till ten minutes till we were told to be ready to go. I got up, jumped in the shower, frantically packed up my stuff, and ran out the door only to be told that they postponed our departure by an hour.

The rest of the morning was great. I got to lay back and completely relax. Occasionally, I caught a few lids, but this lead to my second sleeping incident. Apparently, we stopped for lunch along the way, but I was dreaming by that point. No one remembered to wake me up, and by the time they did realize they were minus one member, lunch was over. Luckily, our chaperone went back and got me a couple slices of pizza before we left.

The hardest part of the day came with our daily assignments. It was my turn to write a news story about the Coastlands Community Church. Janie Jo and I had interviewed the pastor, Evan Lauer, yesterday, and now it was time for me to get to work. I didn’t think writing would be as hard as it was, but actually I had some trouble. It’s harder than it seems to make everything flow, find the right quotes and place them in the right places, and just put your thoughts into words. In the end, I had a story I was proud of and that was presentable, so in a way I defeated my one challenge of the day.
