TruthQuest Journals:

Cara
YOSEMITE, Calif. (BP)--I saw three shooting stars last night. Katie and I snuck out of our tents and watched the stars. One thing I prayed for before I left home was that I wouldn’t rush through things, but stop and take a look around. I’m usually so scared of being outside unclosed, but I was so at ease. I felt like I was in God’s house under his roof, a rather pretty roof I might add. I slept so well. Once again this morning we got lost. It creates togetherness they tell us.

Rappelling- I get up on the rock and get strapped in and I started walking over the edge and I got just plain scared. Climber Chris, one of the girls helping us, and Steve gave me a little needed encouragement. Down the rock about three feet, I was completely fine. “The first step is always the hardest,” Janie Jo says. I loved it! But I loved climbing even better.

There’s just something about literally pulling yourself up a rock (with a dose of God’s grace) that makes you feel like you’ve accomplished something. Once we were through we headed over to the big rock. It was 130 feet. It was quite a tall rock. Well, then Janie Jo, Katie, and I had a hunkering that we needed to use the lady’s room. So we headed off by ourselves like brave little soldiers, and of course we knew exactly where we were going.

Needless-to-say an hour and a half later we were still walking. We finally admitted we were lost when Katie profoundly stated, “That way is north.” (Thank-you, Katie) I said we should just sit in a circle and cry like little girls. We had much help along the way from people who had no idea what or where we needed to go.
These characters included several stinky mountain men and two other guys who said we were crazy. The lodge finally appeared in the distance. Katie suddenly exclaimed, “There’s Mo!” (Morris, the photographer) We ran and tackled members of our party. I’ve never been so happy to see familiar faces. Two things I learned from today, one is that sometimes we hold onto things so tight, but if we just let go of everything and trust we would get to experience some incredible blessings. Two is how can anyone say there is no God?

The beauty I saw today was almost breathtaking and perfectly picturesque. One question how could this huge rock with colors and beautiful trees around it just happen? Another thought to ponder, how could an eyeball just happen? It has parts that depend on other parts, nerves, tears, etc. If people could have seen what I saw today they could not say there is no God.

Also one last thought God wants us to be still and enjoy this world. I am by no means an out-doorsy girl, but God intended us to play and enjoy what he created for us and it seems to me a person can have so much more fun with something God created than something man created. “Be still and know that I am God…”
